01Who we are

This site is operated by Rincon, LLC, doing business as Rincon Strategies, a California limited liability company. Our affiliates Pacific Campaign Solutions and Riviera Research are covered by this policy where they use this site to collect information.

02Information we collect

There are only two ways this site collects information about you.

Information you choose to give us. Two forms on this site collect personal information:

• The contact form collects your name, your organization, your email address, the subject area you select, and whatever you write in the message field.
• The subscribe form on our Perspectives pages collects your email address.

Both forms are processed by Netlify, our hosting provider. Submissions are delivered to us and stored in our Netlify account.

Information collected automatically. Two things happen without you doing anything.

• Server logs. Like nearly every website, our host keeps standard logs. These may include your IP address, your browser type and version, the pages you request, and the date and time of each request. We use these to operate and secure the site.
• Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. It collects the pages you view and how long you spend on them, the site or search that referred you, your approximate location (country, region, and usually city), your device type, screen size, browser, and operating system, and whether you are a new or returning visitor. It assigns your browser a random identifier stored in a cookie — see section 05.

Google Analytics does not store your IP address. It uses it to work out approximate location and then discards it. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from analytics data, and we do not combine it with the information you submit through our forms.

03How we use information

We use the information above only to:

• respond to your inquiry and correspond with you about it;
• send you our Perspectives emails, if you asked for them;
• understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and use this site so we can improve it;
• operate, maintain, and secure this website; and
• comply with law, or establish or defend legal claims.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it for advertising.

04Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only to the service providers that make this site work, and only for that purpose:

• Netlify — website hosting and form processing.
• Sanity — the content system that stores our Perspectives articles and images.
• Google — Google Analytics, which processes the usage data described in section 02 on our behalf. Google may process that data in the United States and other countries. Their handling of it is governed by Google’s privacy policy.
• Google Fonts and unpkg — content delivery networks that serve the fonts and code libraries this site uses. Because your browser requests those files directly, these providers receive your IP address as a technical necessity of delivering them.

We may also disclose information to our professional advisors, or where we are required to by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rincon, LLC, our clients, or others.

05Cookies, tracking, and Do Not Track

This site sets analytics cookies. Google Analytics places two first-party cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_ followed by our measurement ID. They hold a randomly generated identifier that lets Google Analytics tell a returning browser from a new one. By default they expire two years after your most recent visit. They contain no name, email address, or anything else that identifies you personally.

We set no advertising cookies. This site carries no advertising, retargeting, or social media tracking pixels, and we do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activities across other websites through this site. Google’s cross-device and advertising features, which Google calls “Google signals,” are switched off on our property.

How to refuse them. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, browse in your browser’s private mode, or install Google’s official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which stops Google Analytics on every site you visit. Nothing on this site needs cookies in order to work, so refusing them costs you no functionality.

Do Not Track. Google Analytics does not act on Do Not Track browser signals, and neither does this site. If you want to opt out of analytics, use one of the methods above rather than relying on a Do Not Track setting. We disclose this in accordance with California Business and Professions Code section 22575(b)(5).

06Your California privacy rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email inquiry@rinconstrategies.com and we will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will not treat you differently for making a request.

To stop analytics collection entirely, see the opt-out methods in section 05.

California’s Shine the Light law (Civil Code section 1798.83) lets California residents ask whether a business has shared their personal information with third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing. We do not, and never have.

The California Consumer Privacy Act imposes additional obligations on businesses above certain size and data-volume thresholds. We do not believe we meet those thresholds, but we honor the requests described above as a matter of practice regardless.

07How long we keep information

We keep contact form submissions for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of the relationship, and subscriber email addresses until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete either at any time. Server logs are retained on our host’s standard schedule.

08Security

This site is served over HTTPS, and we limit access to form submissions to people at the firm who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please see the note in our Terms of Use about not sending sensitive or confidential material through this website.

09Children

This site is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

10Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date at the top. Material changes will be summarized here for at least 30 days. Your continued use of the site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
